About Us

Mission and Accomplishments

Our Mission is to break the cycle of homelessness by providing safe, decent affordable housing, promoting self-sufficiency, and creating opportunities beyond expectations.

Providing safe, decent affordable housing:

Dignity Housing provides safe, decent affordable housing for our residents. Affordable housing is the first step to becoming self-sufficient. Many of our residents enter into our program after bouncing around the shelter system without a consistent place to stay, which only contributes to the mental and emotional stress of being homeless. At Dignity, residents are provided safe, decent affordable housing as the first step to becoming productive, healthy individuals and families.

Promoting Self-Sufficiency:

Dignity Housing realizes that affordable housing by itself will not move individuals and families out of poverty. For that reason, Dignity’s programs have a strong emphasis on resident's self-sufficiency.

Many individuals have spent their entire lives viewing themselves as victims of their situation. We work in partnership with our residents in order to move them away from being victims, and towards being accountable. Dignity encourages residents to be proactive and offers opportunities for them to gain control and stabilize their own lives. Dignity Housing’s staff believes in the potential of each resident and therefore holds high expectations. We extend dignity and respect to every person in our program.

Creating Opportunities:

Dignity stresses that education and job skill development are necessary to advance beyond poverty. Through Dignity’s Education and Workforce Development Component, we offer a wide range of services, from GED classes to educational awards. Dignity also fosters an environment for leadership through tenant associations and personal development.
